Keeping Your Dad Cool

Brixton Castor in tan, $45

Pun intended. As the days get hotter, Dad is going to need some shade from the sun and what better way to help Dad chill out than one of Brixton's classic straw hats like the Castor? Made of completely natural straw, the Castor is banded with a multi-colored stripe for a shot of extra color complete with Brixton's signature letter pin. Lined in gold silk, this is the perfect combo of looks and luxury for Dad.

Counting Down to Dad's Day

Vestal Plexi in black/silver, $268

Smooth Moves for Dad

If dad's been rubbing his face raw with an electric razor, maybe it's time for something a little more old school. Baxter of California's shaving kit includes shaving cream fortified with tea tree oil and peppermint, a brush made from real badger's hair, and soothing aftershave balm with aloe and menthol. Bandages for nicks and cuts not included.

Dads Can Be Cool, Too

This year, instead of reaching for some stuffy sweater or cartoon-covered tie, get your dad a pair of shades from Original Penguin. Everything about these sunglasses, from their surgical grade nickel-silver frame to their stainless steel hinges to the 99.9% distortion-free SOLA CR-39 lenses will make your dad the coolest on the block.

Friend or Foe - Spring '08

More great shirts from Friend or Foe in now! Fantastic colors and graphics on their lightweight tees make them perfect for everyday wear as the days get warmer. And we still have some pieces left from the previous shipment, too. All shirts are $58 each.

The latest issue of Oakland magazine did a feature on things to do, eat, and buy in Rockridge and included a great write-up about Dapper:

This Rockridge men’s boutique certainly lives up to its name. Stylish duds abound here, for both the young and the young-at-heart, from leather sneakers to $64 James Perse distressed-look T-shirts. A recent trip turned up both high-schoolers looking for hipper-than-usual school clothes and a 30-something dad shopping with his kids. Dapper also carries a whole slew of jeans by Paper Denim, Good Society, Crate, Cheap Monday and Kasie; James Perse lightweight button-up shirts; loads of designer sunglasses; and some good ole “butt huggers”—fashionista for “tighty whities”—from Paul Frank for $12 each.

Go For Gold boxer briefs, $16

Like how Speedos look? Hate how they feel? Not really wanting to be taken seriously in your underwear? Channel your inner gold medal-winning diver in these hilarious boxer briefs.

El Skurvy shorts, $52

Boardshorts get a twist with one of Paul Frank's signature skull patch on the left leg and elastic mesh inserts along the inseam.

Rickson short-sleeved polo, $54

Contrast stitching around the sleeve cuffs and hem and screenprinted graphics at the chest pocket and on the back add nice graphic touches to a classic shirt.

City Park t-shirt, $27

Black and red screenprinted retro-inspired graphics show a stylized cityscape on this easy tee for summer.

Montalbon short-sleeved button-up, $54

Take one Hawaiian shirt, throw in a little jab at tourists, and add in some Greek mythology for good measure. An all-over print featuring cartoon centaurs makes the Montalbon one of the most hilarious shirts you'll ever see.

Converse by John Varvatos - Spring/Summer Part II

The remainder of our spring/summer order from Converse by John Varvatos has finally come in. Like always, the label combines John Varvatos' award-winning sense of style with the easy, rock-inspired sense of cool that has become tied to the Converse name.

Plaid Military Shorts, $145

Pay attention or else you might miss all the cool details on these. Features include zipper side pockets, snap-closure pocket, and buttoned-down belt loops. Inspired by vintage clothing, this piece is deconstructed so that the moment you try them on, it'll feel like you've had them for forever.

Mini Stripe Polo, $75 (Sold Out)

Never content with leaving staples as they are, Varvatos re-imagines the classic polo shirt in a great lightweight, striped cotton with metal buttons and finishes off the look with a small chest pocket.

Eyelet S/S Henley in Ink, $65

A perennial favorite of ours, the short-sleeved henley with Converse eyelets is now available in a rich, inky blue. Lightweight and ridiculously comfortable.

Triple 5 Soul - Spring/Summer '08

Triple 5 Soul brings us another collection of great, funky stuff for Spring/Summer. As always, the combination of military-inspired detailing and streetwear aesthetics makes for fresh pieces that combine color, texture, and personality.

Amherst Shirt, $74

Take a clean, white shirt and throw on loads of cool details and you get the Amherst Shirt. Roll-up button sleeves, two front pockets, and epaulettes are pleasant twists on a basic shirt.

Mesa Shirt, $78

More plaids, but not necessarily more of the same. This lightweight woven is done in a subtle khaki plaid with hints of yellow for a subdubed summer color palette.

Tangier Cargo Shorts, $98

The Triple 5 Soul on the cargo short ditches the baggy, over-sized look in favor of clean lines and clever details. The tabs on the hips allow for adjustments to the waist while snap-close back pockets and zippered side pockets make these shorts easy, but not sloppy.

Mediterranean Jacket, $119

What doesn't this jacket have? Button-adjustable waist, buttoned cuffs, zipper chest pockets, button flap side pockets, zip-up front, and moto-style collar. Done in an exaggerated brown plaid, this jacket is the summer solution to handling unpredictable Bay Area weather.
