Gift Guide '08: REVL Ties

We've gotten a fresh batch of REVL's just-slim-enough neckties to help you stuff all those stockings. New Name: Spindle and Canister

We've always been suckers for anything comfortable, but throw in classic styling and we're sold. Spindle and Canister comes to us out of Los Angeles and their focus is fabric, fabric, fabric. Every piece is pre-shrunk and softening for luxurious clothes that feel like you've had them for forever.

This timeless piece is made out of a plush 70% wool/30% cashmere blend and features mixed wood buttons and two front pockets. The soft rolled shawl collar features two hidden button loops to extend the neck upwards for when it gets chilly.

We firmly believe that casual can be sophisticated and this 100% cashmere zip-up hoody proves it. Front patch pockets and a hood set in at the neck add functionality. Reversed seams and hand-painted zipper.

Each sweater even comes with its own "canister".

New Name: Farmer Industry jeans

Farmer Industry specializes in deadstock denim and re-using discarded materials to make jeans that are environmentally-friendly and decidedly unique. They suggest that you wear their jeans for at least 6 months without washing in order to break them in to their fullest for a pair that fits your body and no one else's.

A Dapper exclusive! We loved the Boy fit — a classic cut straight leg with a mid-rise front and back — and asked what washes were available. To our surprise, the folks at Farmer were willing to produce a run in a super soft and smooth fabric. It may feel like it's got stretch in there, but these are 100% pure cotton. White stitching throughout for a subtle finish.

The "Glory" in raw blue, $119 (buy here)

A slim straight leg for guys who want a good pair of everyday jeans, the Glory fit is similar to the Boy, with a slimmer cut through the thigh down the leg. Done in a classic raw blue, the Glory features two color contrast stitching on the pocket.

All Farmer Industry jeans have logo embroidery along the back waist with an embroidered rat celebrating the year of the rat, according to the Chinese zodiac.

Although these jeans are not made using selvedge denim, all inseams are finished with purple and red thread.

New Name: La Lorraine Trading Co.

La Lorraine Trading Co. is a new tee-shirt brand that has just come into the store. You can expect vintage-inspired graphics on super-soft cotton tees with a contemporary, subtly slim cut.

Holiday 2008: Majestic underwear

Marcoliani Socks

Straight from Milan, Italy comes our first shipment of Marcoliani socks. Lots of folks have been asking us when we'll start carrying socks and here's our answer. With a history stretching back over half a century, these guys know what they're doing. All their socks are made with the finest fibers and include nylon for fit and durability.

Fall 2008: Triple Five Soul accessories

Lumber scarf in bone and navy, $32

These reversible scarves are thick and fleece-y, just the way we like 'em. The check side is made of a wool/poly blend while the reverse is a super soft black polyester. Total length 78".

Recruit beanie, $24

A thick lambswool, acrylic, and nylon ribbed knit makes for a super comfy fit. Wear the brim rolled for a snug, tight fit or unrolled for a slouchier look.

Recruit open mask, $38

Who knew ski masks could be so stylish? Made of the same knit blend as the Recruit beanie, but done in a long open-faced ski mask. Wear it with the face open or pulled up, if it gets cold, or pull the hood off and use it as a stacked, slouchy neckpiece.

Fall 2008: Suburban Riot

Suburban riot has sent us another round of tees. As always, these shirts are nice and soft and showcase the simple, but bold graphics that we've come to expect from them.

New Name: The Smooth Company

Another new brand for fall, The Smooth Company specializes in combining sharp tailoring with casual dressing. We subscribe to the idea that 99% of any look depends upon the fit and with smartly cut clothes like this, it's hard to not look good even when you're dressed down.

Spain jacket, $200

A cotton jacket for winter? Why not, when it’s coated and comes with a snap on/off hood? Zipper front with a storm placket, snap close neck tab, snap tab cuffs to keep out the cold, and four snap front pockets for all your things. Fully lined in 100% cotton with an inside chest pocket.

Axe shacket, $110

This thick and tough shirt jacket takes a casual dressing staple and does it up with refined tailoring elements. Epaulettes, barrel cuffs, back box pleat, and two front button-down chest pockets make it seem like just another shirt, but the button-down placket hides a zipper for an edge when you want it. It’s been a great season for coats and The Smooth Company’s peacoat keeps the trend going. A soft wool/viscose blend double-breasted coat comes loaded with all the little details that a guy needs: epaulettes, gun patch at the shoulder, snap tabs at the sleeves, button-down handwarmer pockets, single rear vent, and an interior chest pocket. The snap tab at the neck provides that extra little bit of coverage to keep you warm.
